December 2012

Another year draws to a close which has seen some releases I’ve been very happy with (collaborations with Caught In The Wake Forever, David Newlyn, thisquietarmy for the Death:Valley CD, and Dirk Serries for the Sleep of Reason LP trilogy and tour), a split CD with Egsun, the reissue of OLD and of course merry6mas.

On the subject of merry6mas, Norman Records gave it 4 stars and it’s still available from the yellow6 website, Norman Records and Pirate Ship.  Get it before they all go….
Pirate Ship are also doing a special 6mas extravaganza mail order special where you can get merry6mas 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 for $25!!!  http://www.pirateshiprecords.com/

In case you need further inducement to get yourself a copy, there are two tracks to listen to on SoundCloud here:  https://soundcloud.com/yellow6/sets/merry6mas2012

(It will be on Bandcamp at some point soon)

Also from the shop, the last few copies of the Sleep of Reason LP trilogy and,  making a return to the store for a limited time, saved from the recycling plant/landfill, I have some copies of Painted Sky (Resonant Records) at bargain price.

Final release of the year, with a contribution from me, is Aidan Baker’s Origins and Evolution.  A collaborative guitar drone album available here: http://blackbox-utilities.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=62&product_id=92

Here’s some words about it:

Aidan Baker returns to INSTALL with a appropriate follow up to his 2009 record 'Dry'. 'Origins & Evolutions' . For this one Aidan has brought some friends along to create an immersive composition for multiple guitars recorded by guitarists from all over the world and assembled by Aidan himself. 'Origin One (Drone)' starts the record with a layered, dense drone that sets the frame work for the record. Further on the composition descends quickly into the obtuse with 'Evolution One (Percussive)' and 'Evolution Two (Chime Drone)'. The record is brought full circle by the ending piece 'Origin Two (Melody)'. Limited to 300 replicated CDs in full color 4 panel eco-wallet.
With Guitarists:

Jon Attwood, Aidan Baker, Mick Barr, Bryan W. Bray, David Daniell, Jonathan Demers, Richard Graham, N, JF Sebastian, David Tagg, Velladon Vampillia, Slash Vampillia, Matej Volgar, Brian Wenckebach, Nigel Wright

Thanks again for your support in 2012 and I’ll be back with more I’m sure in 2013.
